NHMRC Policies and Guidelines

The NHMRC Animal Welfare Committee (AWC) has primary responsibility to advise the Research Committee of NHMRC on all matters pertaining to the conduct and ethics of animal experimentation.   The AWC also is responsible for the regular review and, if necessary, revision of the Code of Practice for the Care and Use of Animals for Experimental Purposes, and other NHMRC documents related to animal welfare.

Other policies which are available on-line are:

Policy on the use of Non-Human Primates in Medical Research - background notes for investigators, animal ethics committees and animal care staff on the care and use of non-human primates in medical research.
